This Stainless Steel backlit kiosk is a good example of how a simple solution can make a big difference.  By adding a simple car battery and a photovoltaic panel, this product was turned into a solar powered kiosk, which eliminated the need to run electrical to the item and disrupt the existing landscape of Justin Herman Plaza.  The panel is attached to a timer, which turns on at dusk and uses the captured solar energy to power the backlit map until morning light.
